Marisol Rios De La Luz, known as La Borinqueña, is the superhero safeguarding Puerto Rico’s tropical islands. With control over winds and earth, she soars through the sky, clad in her light blue, red, and white costume inspired by the Puerto Rican flag. Her star grants her access to the past, unveiling the rich history that shapes her identity, teaching her about Borikén, the original name of Puerto Rico and the source of her powers.

When Marisol is not in costume, she explores Puerto Rico’s caves, collecting rocks along the way. She studies the unique hat palm trees found in Playuelas, deepening her understanding of her surroundings. Aware of the disappearing coasts due to rising sea levels, La Borinqueña assists lost tinglares (leatherback turtles) in finding safe nesting beaches. Once she saves the day, she joyfully embraces her Afro-Puerto Rican heritage, expressing her cultural pride through the exuberant dance and song of bomba.

La Borinqueña: Is outfitted in one of her iconic red, white, and blue costume, with beautiful curly hair and a barette of the Puerto Rican National Flower, la flor de maga (hibiscus)! More than 20 points of articulation and stunning detail allow you to pose in a variety of ways. Doll is 6" scale.
